The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India, abbreviated as ASSOCHAM, claimed that lack of protection of intellectual property in inventions related to computer will have a direct effect on job opportunities and investment in the information, communication, and technology industry.

ASSOCHAM advised Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, to bring about suitable alterations to the current guidelines for inventions related to computer that have resulted to an unpredictable and instable environment in the Indian information, communication, and technology industry. “The guidelines for inventions related to computer have forbidden the patenting of inventions related to computer until a ‘new hardware’ is also made-up, therefore effecting the whole information, communication, and technology sector and related sectors that add hugely to gross domestic product of India and make important employment,” ASSOCHAM claimed in a letter addressed to the Nripendra Misra, Principal Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office.

ASSOCHAM suggested patenting of the lately introduced BHIM-Aadhaar app, indicating that the current guidelines for inventions related to computer do not maintain objectives of different government schemes that are introduced.
